What kind of God would allow "the end of the world"? Why is it there are those out there who think that there is a magic date that everything will just end? Why would an all powerful deity pick a date to end everything? It just seems so silly to me.
Lets take for instance this group of people who believe that the end of the world will occur on May 21, 2011. The group, who call themselves ebiblefellowship indicate that the end will happen on this day using biblical quotes and some mysterious time line they must have created (my favorite entry being "11,013 BC—Creation. God created the world and man (Adam and Eve" - how friggin' strange is that date, right?).
Why would this all consuming God just end it on that day - why May 21, 2011 - ignoring the craziness they try and use to justify it - and more importantly why would be give us an algorithm to figure it out for ourselves? Can anyone explain this? I am actually very curious why people would think this way.
In my opinion, the chances of an asteroid blowing us all into space tomorrow is more likely than 11,013 BC being the creation of the world, or the end coming on May 21, 2011.
It's so hard to tell if I am the crazy one - or they are. Any thoughts?
